Narellan is the commercial heart of the Camden side of the district — the town centre, the sports fields around Nott Oval, the reserves along the Narellan urban forest, and the road that carries everybody east to Campbelltown and Mount Annan. It also had its own railway station once, on the Camden branch line that closed on the first day of 1963.

Two generations of roof, one suburb

The 1980s and 90s brick-and-tile housing has the familiar problems: perished ridge pointing, bedding mortar gone soft so caps rock, galvanised valley irons corroding under leaf litter, worn tile surfaces. That is roof restoration territory where the tiles are still solid.

Narellan Creek and the local drainage lines take a lot of water in a Macarthur summer storm, and the thing that catches homeowners out is capacity rather than blockage. If a patio was enclosed or an alfresco added and nobody added a downpipe, that roof area now drains through an outlet sized for a smaller house.
